I was not certain what to expect from this book. I was looking for inspiration for being a mother and I found it! The book is witty and has a light humor. The inspiration hit the spot right where I needed it. We all know having children can be a challenge. I thought I was failing, but turns out I am normal and with the help of this book I can push through more. Motivational book of which I will pull out every now and again to remind me of how fabulous I am.
This book is wonderful! It is broken down by day. Each day has a new lesson. It can be devoured in one sitting or be read day to day. You will mark your favorite lessons, and return to them time and again. So many of these lessons made me stop and just reflect for a moment. Others made me tear up and others made me crack up. Some challenged me. Most inspired me, and fed me spiritually. This book is a great reminder of life’s many lessons. I just adore it!
This book is much different than your average, typical self-help related book due to the fact that it has a very light-hearted and warm vibe and feeling to it. The writing is not only insightful, but also very motivational and inspiring at the same time. I think most readers can relate to the wonderful message of “My Momma Said”, and will also be able to take away something positive from the read.
My Momma Said is a tiny inspirational quotes book that gets finished within an hour. Each page holds just a single piece of life's lessons with a couple of lines extra added to enhance clarity of the words. Most of the messages are familiar yet some of them are new like finding life's meanings in the scriptures. We could make our children go through the messages as it is basically meant for them.
The format of the book is a winner; the 100 life lessons are set out in easy to read and remember bite-sized mottoes. There is a tremendous variety here but the over-arching theme is to live a Christian life of praise, prayer, repentance and forgiveness. If this is too wholesome for you (or your children) give the more worthy mottoes a miss and concentrate instead on those which make sound sense like the importance of family and love for siblings and cousins, and the route to personal fulfilment through being the best you can be, living with integrity and honour.
An Inspirational guidebook for life. We all have those sayings that we remember from our moms as we grew up and that stuck with us through the years. Well this book combines these sayings and more, bringing them together in a way that is entertaining to read, yet insightful and educational at the same time. Presented in small life lessons for a day by day read, you can take it one day at a time and immerse yourself into the lessons and guidance, or you can read them all at once (as I did, lol) and then bookmark your favorite ones to return to as you need.
Funny, yet personal and endearing, I found that each lesson, even the ones I had dismissed at first read, could be applied to situations in my life as they came up. I think that the author did a great job in bringing this all together and the way she presents it all is truly personal and down to earth.
