Zombies Don't Cry A Living Dead Love Story Rusty Fischer Books

After months looking this book in my pile I decided to put aside all the other books and finally read it. And you know what? Rusty didn't disappoint me. At all.

Maddy, after doing a very stupid thing like going out to a party in the middle of a storm, discovers that she is dead. Yep, there was no mistake specially after seeing the hole in the back of her head where a lightning had hit her.

So now she has this sudden desire to eat brains and she doesn't want to eat her dad's brain so she decides to buy fresh brains at market, of course, why not? And after a bizarre conversation with the guy at the counter she discovers that she is not the only teenager who buys brains. Two of her classmates are zombies too -and they take her to meet "The Elders" who, of course, look exactly like the zombies we see in the movies (gross!).
They tell her the rules, very simple rules: when turned report immediately to them -which she failed to do because, let's face it, we don't have a manual in case we became zombies, right?-, don't tell any human what you are and destroy all zerkers -read bad zombies-.

And, who knew? There are two zerkers in her town who happen to be in her Home Ec class and have already killed three of her classmates -which begins the rumors about a curse upon Home Ec-. To make things even more complicated there's a new boy who seems to like her (and was the main reason why she tried to go to that party in the middle of the storm) but now that she is a zombie it's kind of difficult to be with him... but Stamp doesn't give up and Dane, her zombie friend, doesn't look to happy about it.

But then Bones and Dahlia (the zerkers) develop a plan to turn their peaceful town into a nightmare...

Personal opinion:
Not only did Rusty managed to write a really funny, interesting and clever book from a zombie girl's point of view but he made it believable! I mean, if tomorrow I'm turned into a zombie I would pick up this book read it again and highlight the information I would need to survive.
The way Maddy thinks and they way she acts is completely natural in a girl of her age. The plot is interesting and what I liked the most were the dialogues and the sarcasm. For me it was like watching a movie, you know? It was that good!

And the cover? I love it! One of my favorite covers of this year.

The only thing that I would really like to know is if there's going to be a second book because the end is left open and I really want know what read more about Maddy.

Zombies Don't Cry A Living Dead Love Story Rusty Fischer Books Reviews

I could completely relate to Maddy, at least when she was human. After that well her life kind of fell apart. Zombie's Don't Cry is a good warning for kids who sneak out, not in that they'll become zombies but that bad things could happen and then where'd you be. Maddy sneaks out to go to a party with the hunky new kid Stamp. Ok first every time I read this name I saw some dumb muscled meat head, I don't think that's what Mr Fischer was going for but that's what I envisioned. The beginning of this book was a little slow, but once Maddy became a zombie it picked up.
As a zombie Maddy has to follow a whole new set of rules and a very strict diet. She starts hanging out with a whole new cliche and her old friends aren't crazy about it. Let's just say if friends will help you move and best friends help you move the bodies then Chloe and Dane are Maddy's ZBFF's (zombie best friends forever). As the book progressed I really hoped the Maddy would give up on Stamp and hook up with Dane. Instead it just got way to complicated. Anyway I got caught up in the story, and Maddy's drama friends, zombies, and boy troubles. While I wouldn't have considered this a true love story it was some what a romance.
There are a lot of twists and action as Maddy learns the in and outs of being a zombie as well as trying to keep herself from being dead permanently.
What a fun and easy read. I was done this one before I knew it and I loved every moment of it! Meaning while on holiday this Ebook travelled to the beach, the pool and lunch. It didn't make it to dinner. Honestly it was that good. I love the zombies, the way thy com to be and even their world. This isn't your typical "brains, need brains" zombie book... Well they do need brains so there are brains but not in the decomposing, dragging limbs behind them kind of way. This is a much more original thought through take on zombies that steps away from the stereotypical look that they have from television and movies.

There is also the matter of the humorous, witty and brilliant story. I mean for a book of this length I didn't find myself wanting or needing a break. It was more like I had people looking at me for laughing out loud while reading. The love definitely started when I read the chapter titles. They are amazingly suited to the chapters and so much fun, by the time I got to "You Might Be a Zombie If..." I realized I was completely and utterly hooked. There isn't really any down time or the feeling that you aren't going anywhere either. This is a constantly moving, got your attention and not letting it go kind of novel.

Maddy was wonderful. Full of bad luck but wonderful. For a girl that is comfortable with who
she is, who she's friends with and her kind of strict but loving father she sure knows how to keep life interesting. If sneaking out and getting all zombie'd doesn't qualify as interesting I'm not really sure what would. She then has to learn how exactly to be a zombie and I know you are thinking what?! But hey there are rules and regulations if you want to be a good zombie and stay alive(ish). Maddy seems to adjust well for the most part but struggles at times with the things she has to hide and the stuff she has to give up.

The romance didn't really get a chance to gain much ground but I am okay with that. The time was spent developing a story and the characters but the potential for some serious romance is there. Dane is really something else. I think given a choice I would totally route for him with his understanding and laid back demeanour. Stamp is another open possibility but I wasn't near as fond of him. Though he isn't a bad guy I just couldn't get the none tigon with him that I had win Dane. Both these guys do have potential and I am actually glad that there was no rush to put Maddy in a relationship with one guy or the other.

With how awesome this book was, I'm totally psyched about picking up anything by Mr. Fischer in the future. He has a captivating and intriguing story laid out that has me presently hooked. It's not an embellishment by any means to say that this story is brilliant and witty. It doesn't matter if you are a Zombie lover, Zombie hesitant or new to them this book is sure to draw you in and lead to laughs and a serious Rusty Fischer addiction.
Well done.
This girl is really trying to keep herself from being dead permanently. Moral of the story is not to sneak out with some new guy to go out to a party. Other wise your doomed!

My disclaimer...
I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.
Any book or novels I leave reviews on are not dependent on the book/novel review author’s opinion. No one influenced my voluntary review for any of the books or novels I read, they are my own opinions.
