I have read most of the books by this author and only one is left to be read. So, I can safely declare that I love her writing style and her stories.
Having said that, it is important to add that the book is riveting. I was hooked from start to end, but as the story was unfolding some very upsetting, dark and difficult situations occured. Violent things happened and rape scenes were described. So, if someone is sensitive about these subjects this is not a suitable book for them.
On the other hand it is like a James Bond or Mission Impossible movie. Many situations are unrealistic. It is like they are living in the Wild West in the 19th century. No police, no Federal, no authorities.
Don't misunderstand me, I don't have an issue because the H/h are the good guys and I am on their side but some situations were obsiously very convenient for them.
Anyway the very important fact for me is that the story has for sure a HEA.
Overall a good book, but not my favourite by Mrs Shen.

This book was awesome. A wild ride of danger, death, hiding and escaping. It was beautiful, raw and wonderful. You will fall in love and seek vengeance. You will see exactly how Prescott fall for her captor. There isn't anyway around that. He may look hard and be hard but he is hot and has a soft spot. I loved the fact that Prescott wasn't a whiny rich kid. I loved that she had backbone and a plan. I loved that she could be cold and ruthless yet warm and loving. I love the fact that no one had ever opened Nate up. No one could ever make him feel u til Prescott. It was beautiful, tragic and exciting and I loved every minute of it!
Well, that was a blast! Not that I'm surprised...
L.J. Shen is a rock-star kind of woman/author and once again she blew my mind!
BTD is not a regular boy meets girl kind of story. It's dark, full of suspense, with amazingly strong heroine and one hell of a hero.
Prescott is not the average rich girl. She was born into money, but never stayed. With one bad choice of a boyfriend, her life becomes like hell. She fights back, seeks revenge and never gives up. That's how she meets Beat/Nate/My love...sigh...
While being kidnapped and locked in a dark basement, Beat is her light. Oh yeah, he's also her captor...
He's not the average captor kind of guy and once you've known him, your heart and ovaries will sing his name! With a look of a (sexy) criminal and a heart of a poet, he helps Prescott and together revenge is much more sweeter.
I loved Blood to Dust and was captivated from the begining. This is a perfectly written story that will take you for one hell of a ride. If you ask me, this is definitely a MUST READ!
This book was unexpected, but in the best way possible.

I love how detailed she went with the circumstances of the book. Normally when I've read a book about characters being on the run, they're on the run for like a chapter then boom all the bad stuff stops. Nearly the entire book is these characters on the run, so there's no shortage of suspense.

These characters are the best as well. Nathaniel Vela is a complicated, tender soul. He doesn't try to be a big bad guy even though his appearance would suggest otherwise. He's equal amounts intense yet caring.

Prescott is ruthless in her own right, but it stems from a past that shouldn't have happened to her. She's smart and cunning. Tough as nails, and knows to show no weakness. As strong as she is, she still has demons that eat at her from the inside.

All together this makes a thrilling story that will have you racing to the end to see if our characters make it through with their revenge plot alive.

This story was brutal. Brutally terrifying, but brutally beautiful all the same.

It's dark and gritty from the very beginning. Very fast-paced. Everything is unpredictable, secrets unveil layer by layer, emotions run rampant and wild. Everything that happens is so dark and unbelievable that it almost sounds bizarre... yet it's weirdly real. There's so much emotion in every word written you can't help but feel for two main characters hot, dark, brooding and tortured hero looking for his place under the sun and a seriously amazing, strong heroine that will stop at nothing to keep the place under this sun that has her name on it - she wants revenge and she's going to make sure she gets it. And through all they go through, they'll manage to find something they both always feared to hope for, never expected, and certainly didn't know they needed - someone to love them, someone to love.

"We come from darkness and go back to it when we're done. Nobody lives forever, and everybody's grave is equally as dark."

The story is full of angst, sex, and deep emotions; packed with action and unexpected twists and turns. It's everything I came to expect when reading one of L.J. Shen's books, and yet it's completely unique. I loved every word, every sentence, every paragraph, and every new chapter. This is . Best way to start 2018 - Recommended read!
What a roller coaster ride. Every character was so well developed, and the story was like none that I have ever read before.

"I love her like a slave, I kneel in front of her like a subject, I crawl back to her at night like a drunk, and I worship her like a believer".

Nate is by far one of my favorites. His love for Prescott was to his core. And Prescott, she was strong, straight forward in her quest for obtaining the pieces of her soul that were taken. Love her.

I would like to end with this; read this story. You will fall hard for these two.
