While a good writer, Sable Hunter grossly miscalculated the impact of dumping a ridiculous amount of backstory from her previous books in this series into this book. Although she sprinkled in a bit of new writing here and there, according to my Kindle, she didn't get on with the real book during the first 30% of the total word count on this one. At $4.99/book, that's beyond unacceptable. A summary of a couple pages would have done the job. It's a real pain in the ass to readers who have to skim passed page after page of reprinted regurgitation to hunt for and pick out the sprinkling of new writing before getting on with the book they expected when purchased. This approach was an epic fail that, if continued in other books by this author, will guarantee loss of readers. Sable is a good writer, but quality AND quantity have to be consistent with reader expectations for success.A series automatically denotes to readers that previous books need to be read in order to get all the info on characters and events prior to the book being read. We do not expect or want to pay for regurgitation, especially not for a third of a book! Most of the books in this series are very short in comparison to price anyway. This author cannot afford to make this kind of a rookie mistake. No author can. Readers expect to get what they pay for and will demand it by their future purchase choices. This is enough reason for Ms Hunter to severely edit and rework this book and any others she has approached like this. I, for one, expect more from any author who is serious about his/her craft and reputation. If it weren't for the fact that she is a good author and puts thought into her plots, I would have given this book a one-star rating.
(If you do edit and rewrite this book, I hope you send all those of us who purchased this one the new copy. It would go a long ways toward redemption!)

Her Magic Touch Hell Yeah! edition by Sable Hunter Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
In the first 25% of the book we are treated with a rehash of the McCoy past from book 2 which is Jacob's story. This consists of a lot of copy/paste complete parts of the prior book as a reminder to the reader how they got to the Joseph and Cady story. Very little about Joseph is new writing, although to be fair, there are new sentences mixed here and there about Joseph to enhance his past. Inbetween the copy/paste about the McCoys and Joseph are new paragraphs and sections about Cady which give details about how she got this far. Then the last 75% of the story is new writing. I will say that was disappointing. I haven't ever read a book that was like that. Sure other authors comment on history of the story in each sequel, but copy/past whole chapters? Not good.
In his story, Joseph is an ass. He's very self-centered and way too mean and cruel to Cady. I get it, he's paralyzed, afraid, sad and concerned that some "pretty" girl might see him and how he is physically at this low point of his life. He has lost his future and feels useless and can't stand the thought of having to spend the rest of his life as handicapped. But he is too mean to Cady. He is written as if he has no class whatsoever.
Cady is such a wimp. Taking the role of Joseph's whipping boy is a little overbearing. I get it, she feels homely and hasn't been told anything except she's not pretty. She is tactful and doesn't want to upset Joseph, but enough is enough.
Now, I do have to say that it isn't a bad story, just a little over the top with Cady and Joseph's personalities. I did look forward to how Joseph was going to come to the realization that he loved Cady. Even in the end, he was still foolish in his demands she marry him. Though he did finally get around to telling her how he felt instead demanding what he wanted.
I am not sure I want to get the next book about Isaac. Though I think he is a very interesting character. I just don't want any rehash in Isaac's book with copy/paste from Joseph's book.
The series takes on a paranormal turn in Joseph's story. Joseph whole identity was tied up in his extreme sports fame and being a much sought after Playboy. After a paralyzing injury all he had was his family and a few close friends who rallied around him. Cady is a powerful empathic healer from a very old New Orleans family of witches. A mutual friend bring Cady to Texas to heal Joseph. Cady has dreamed of Joseph for a long time and know that by helping him she will find great joy and sorrow. I loved Joseph and Cady's story, Joseph is hard to like at times he is frequently thoughtlessly cruel to Cady, lashing out and wallowing in self pity. Cady is is gracious and understanding as he comes to grips with his reality. A dramatic and steamy love story.
I really loved the character of Cady, she is described as a plain woman with a magical healing touch who comes to the McCoy ranch to help get Joseph McCoy on his feet but she is so much more. A woman who is gentle of spirit and kind of heart who believes helping Joseph is her destiny and it is! The only drawback of this story is Joseph’s complete arrogance and even cruelty at times. Although I understand the need for some of this for the evolution of the story and for Joseph’s journey the abundance of his bad judgement really make him my least favourite character……although McCoy brother Noah is a close second after reading Book 2.
